The American Sycamore (Platanus occidentalis), also known as Western Plane or Plane Tree, is fast growing tree and among largest deciduous trees. Brown fruit remains on the tree after leaves drop in fall. Thanks to their spreading crown and large leaves, sycamores make excellent shade trees.

American Sycamores should be planted where they have plenty of room to reach their full size of 35-50 m.
