English Laurel (Prunus laurocerasus) is an evergreen shrub growing to 6 m. It is in leaf all year, in flower from April to June, and the seeds ripen in September.

The species is hermaphrodite (has both male and female organs). It can grow in full shade, semi-shade or no shade.

English cherry laurel makes an excellent choice for a taller privacy hedge or border. The plant can tolerates strong winds but not maritime exposure.
